Feedback turn into inspiring ideas bank..

Today is the last day of September of 2020, the 30th. This makes me kind of moody and melancholy. But do not worry, it is also exciting beginning a new month. Nevertheless, we start another class of ELT and with so much excitement.

First, we began with some key ideas of how to start a less (I had to say it is one of my favorite parts of the lesson). I take as a note that we have to make our lesson personal. We can begin in different ways every time to surprise the kids and catch their attention, preferably with personal experiences. Also, review what you have seen in the last class to remind concepts. Another key aspect is to write on the blackboard the objectives of the lesson in the blackboard or somewhere where the students can see it and be conscious about what we are going to approach this day.

Once we have seen this, we start with our objectives. Today we had to show our last work, the one we did yesterday. I must admit I was kind of nervous and my voice has betrayed me when I had to splained our activity. But it wasn't a big deal in the end. The important part was listening to our classmates and their feedback on our work and theirs.

I have written down some ideas that caught my mind...

  • Creating avatars to make the students feel represented in the learning problems.
  • Integrate pronunciation naturally in the lesson with other activities. We need, also, to respect the silent period, it is not immediately the kids to be able to talk. Listen to a story told by the teacher, to let them have time to acquire and rest the sounds and information.
  • We need to take into account the natural stages of development once we are designing an activity because if we want our students to learn the activity needs to fit with their needs (attractive, from their level to not be boring, etc.).
  • Snake puppet: it is a puppet that is going to be shaken any time a student misses an -s while they are talking.
  • Popcorn reading: It is a dynamic where students need to be attentive and ready because when a student is reading the teacher can say "popcorn" and another student will continue reading since the point of the last storyteller. They need to pay attention and focus on the task.
  • The idea of creating a dictionary or glossary of the words most asked in class.

Impressive how a routine class can become the best place to soak up ideas, and what incredible ideas.
